Susan Bradfield, photographer. A self-portrait smiling and looking to her left, wearing a cream-colored turtleneck and sitting on a cream-coloured, fluffy chair, against a dark background.

I’ve spent much of my working life around film sets, studios and creative spaces.

Sometimes behind the scenes, sometimes in front of the camera, often somewhere in between.

Over time, I realised that all of my careers within the industry were linked, like invisible threads, that were always meant to cross one another, leading me back home to myself, to my photography and my art.

Meet Susan

Photographer & Artist

I am a daydreamer, lost in a world where I can create magic with my camera or a paintbrush on canvas. Slow, comfortable moments within the dreamy pages of a good book or film.
— Susan Bradfield

I am naturally drawn to cinematic landscapes, interiors, still-life and portraits; they are all fragments of a story waiting to be told.

My love of Film and TV will always take me on the road with my camera. I love researching and finding locations from Film and TV, so I might find a little of the magic for myself and capture it in an image.

Finding beautifully hidden places, or catching the light as it comes through a window, highlighting magic dust floating through the air. These are all the little details that matter to create the bigger picture.

FROM CAMERA TO CANVAS

Last year, when I stepped into a local art class, a long-forgotten passion found its way back to me. That was art.

What began as a photography business has now grown into something unexpected and so much more.

The crossover in my work is happening at a slow, organic pace in my studio in the garden, and I am excited for what comes next.

But the dream of creating beautiful pieces of art, whether that is a photography print, a canvas painting or an ink drawing, has begun.

A still-life photograph. A desk scene with an open book, a letter with a wax seal, a candle in a brass holder, and a few stacked books in a dimly lit room. Photography by Susan Bradfield. www.susanbradfield.co.uk
